Rehab Focus

Teachers who are experienced in dealing with a range of physiological issues and in working with clients to manage and improve their condition. Common conditions that our teachers regularly work with include sciatica, specific and non specific back pain, frozen shoulder, plantar fasciitis, scoliosis, joint pain and hypermobility

Home Exercise Programmes

All private and semi-private clients are offered the option of having homework exercises emailed free of charge to them after their session so that they can continue the work at home. Don’t worry this isn’t compulsory – just an option to help those with the time to get even more out of their Pilates practice. This is also available to group class clients for an additional fee

The Classes

Synergy Pilates offers group matwork and group reformer classes as well as private 1:1 Pilates sessions.  Both mat and reformer workouts will help tone, strengthen and lengthen as well as correcting muscle imbalances but there are some fundamental differences between the two.  If you are unsure of whether matwork or reformer is right for you or want to know more about any of the classes in our timetable please take a look below or contact us to discuss your needs.

Reformer

The reformer is a large piece of specialised equipment that uses springs and pulleys to add to the resistance and challenge of the workout. If you have tried Pilates before and found it a bit slow or want faster results then this is for you. The precise nature of the equipment means that it is as suited for athletic conditioning as it is for tackling rehab and it has been a firm favourite with the Hollywood A-list for years.  At Synergy Pilates we use top of the line Stott reformers – widely acknowledged as the premiere manufacturer of professional quality Pilates equipment.

Matwork

Both the matwork and the equipment work were developed originally by Josef Pilates but matwork tends to be most peoples first experience of Pilates.  Mat classes use the mat but also small apparatus such as bands, small balls and blocks to support and challenge you.  We offer a variety of matclasses but at the heart of each is a focus on core stability, flexibility and strength with a varied repertoire of adaptable exercises to keep your body and your mind engaged.

Private

At Synergy Pilates we offer reformer 1:1 sessions and matwork 1:1 or 2:1 sessions.  This is the optimum way to experience Pilates – working with you we tailor each session to your body and goals.    We will work with you to evolve the sessions as your body changes so that you continue to be challenged in a supportive, safe way.  The sessions can be utilised as you wish – some clients choose to take long-term private sessions as an opportunity to work on correcting ingrained muscle imbalances or to push themselves physically but we also work with clients who have shorter term goals – for example doing a number of private sessions to resolve a specific issue or get a client ready to join a group matwork class.

Group Mat

Group matwork classes are an excellent way to gain a solid understanding of the Pilates principles in a motivated and constructive atmosphere.  We limit classes to a maximum of ten (some classes such as antenatal and Pilates on the ball classes are limited to eight) so that each participant can benefit from individual attention during their class.  Pilates can be fairly subtle and we often find that clients who come to us feeling they haven’t quite ‘got’ Pilates before when they have tried it as one of a large group of participants elsewhere are really able to get to grips with it, and to start to reap its rewards once they are in a smaller more focused group setting.  We offer a range of classes available from beginners to advanced dynamic flow classes as well as classes with a more distinct focus such as our Pilates on the ball classes or Pilates for sport.  Please note if joining a group matwork class then you need to be able to get up and down from the mat unassisted.

Group Refomer

We are now offering small group reformer classes - a staple of top London studios these classes are a more accessible way of getting reformer quality results. These classes are offered on a 3:1 basis to ensure plenty of individual attention and correction with each client having their own state of the art Stott reformer to work on throughout each 60 minute class. With high quality teaching these classes are equally suited to those with rehab conditions and clients looking for a balanced and challenging all over workout.

Closed Classes

Synergy Pilates offers a ‘closed’ matwork class service for small groups of friends or like minded individuals who want to have a class designed around them and only open to their group.  These classes run on pre-arranged terms agreed between Synergy Pilates and the group and as such are ideal for clients who have to take into account lengthy school holidays into their schedule.  Please note numbers for these classes are a minimum of four.
